Multiple Spaces and Narrative Function——A Narrative Space Analysis of “The Young King”

本文以叙事学理论为依据,从空间维度深入解析王尔德童话《少年王》,探索文本中的空间意象,以此挖掘其叙事空间背后的深层含义,从而使读者能更深刻地理解其童话作品的内涵及文学价值。本文认为,童话故事中的空间意象具有重要的叙事功能与意义。《少年王》中存在多重空间重叠并置的现象,不仅表现了少年王追寻美的本质的过程,也凸显了现实空间与虚幻空间的对立与融合,同时也反映了王尔德对唯美主义的不懈追寻。

Based on theories of narratology,this article makes an in-depth analysis of Wilde 's tale 'The Young King'from the perspective of narrative space,with a view to seek space images in the story along with deep meanings behind them,so as to provide a better understanding of his fairy tales and their literariness.This article concludes that space images of fairy tales possess significant narrative function and meaning;there are multiple spaces interlacing through 'The Young King',which implies not only the process of the young King 's pursuing the essence of Beauty,but also the conflict and integration between real space and illusory space,and the everlasting pursuit of aestheticism of Wilde.
