星云大师的《释迦牟尼佛传》、《十大弟子传》、《玉琳国师传》等3部人物传记文学,创作素材丰富而广博,它们既源于佛经典籍又加入民间的逸闻趣事。据此3部文学中相关的佛典依据,可以看到星云大师既有史家的严谨、佛家的慈悲,又有文学家的创造力;佛教人物传记的抒写既尊重历史的真实,淡化神异色彩,又达到以文弘法,事理圆融的效果。进而领略星云大师一以贯之的"人间佛教"的创作宗旨。

Venerable Master Hsing Yun has three biography literature, they are Buddha Biography,the Top Ten Disciples Biography and Yu Lin Buddhist Biography.The creative materials of these biographyies are rich and wide. They both originate from Buddhist classics and folk anecdotes. By investigating the basis of Buddhism on these three biographies,we can see that Venerable Master Hsing Yun is not only rigorous historian,compassionate Buddhist,but also creative writer. The Buddhist biographies writing should respect the historical truth,and play down the miraculous color.Its writing achieves good effect to carry forward Buddhism through the literature, to the combination of things and truth. Its writing implements the creation of the ＂humanistic Buddhism＂ tenet from Venerable Master Hsing Yun.
