Taiwan's Representations to Philippine over the Sovereignty of the Nansha Islands in 1956 and Its Influence

1956年的"克洛马事件"引发了台湾当局对菲律宾就南沙群岛主权问题的长期交涉。事件的发生与菲律宾对南沙群岛长期觊觎、台湾当局撤守南沙群岛及"旧金山对日和约"相关条款的模糊规定密切相关。围绕此次事件,台湾当局对菲律宾的集中交涉大致经历四个阶段,其交涉目的也有相应变化。台湾当局对菲交涉延缓了菲律宾公开侵夺南沙群岛的步伐,但交涉的艰难促使台湾当局为杜绝菲律宾等国的领土野心而采取了一系列管控南沙的积极措施。

Taiwan's long-term representations to Philippine over the sovereignty of the Nansha Islands resulted from the'Cloma Incident'in 1956.The occurrence of the incident is related with the Philippine's covetousness on the Nansha Islands Since 1946,Taiwan garrison's withdrawal from Nansha Islands and the ambiguous articles of the Treaty of Peace with Japan.Around this incident,Taiwan's intensive representations to Philippine could be divided four stages according to the different aims.Taiwan's representations delayed the steps of Philippine to openly invade the Nansha Islands,but the rough process prompted Taiwan authorities to adopt a series of active measures to manage and control Nansha Islands,so as to cut off other countries'territorial ambitions.
