史蒂文斯大胆运用想象力,提出行之有效的相似性诗学理论。他坚持认为真正的诗学之光,即恰当的象征和隐喻不但不会破坏我们对事物的认识,相反,事物之间的这种关联或相似性能更清晰地显示事物本身的特质。这一理论已成为他诗歌创作理论的核心成分,也是美国现代主义诗学的重要组成部分。

Wallace Stevens boldly proposed his poetic theory of"resemblance"which is effective and distinctive.He claims that genuine poetic light,namely appropriate symbols and metaphors cannot disrupt our knowledge of the things in the world,on the contrary,association or resemblance between the things can distinctly display things as they are.This theory has already become the core of his poetic theories and an important component in modern American poetics.
