The Yang Hu Hill Cemetery is located on the eastern foot of Yang Hu Hill 600 m to the southwest of the Xiangyang Ancient City in present-day Xiangyang, Hubei. In August and November 2014, Xiangyang Municipal Institute of Cultural Relics and Archaeology excavated a tomb of the Ming Dynasty in the east of this cemetery (numbered M38) . This was a semi-subterranean stone chamber tomb built in earthen pit, which consisted of the passage, corridor and chamber; on the back wall of the tomb chamber, a tablet was engraved out of the stone, the inscription of which showed that this tomb was built in the thirty-eighth year of Wanli reign period of the Ming Dynasty (1610) , and its occupant was Nie Xiangshou, the menzheng (gatekeeper) of the princely mansion of the Princedom of Xiang of the Ming Dynasty. Over the tablet, a stone lintel was inlayed, on which three characters reading " Anle Wo (Cozy Nest)" were engraved. The set of utensils of the glazed pottery octagonal lidded box and so on would be the Buddhist sar/ra reliquaries. The excavation of this tomb provided physical materials for the studies on the funeral customs and the religious beliefs of the officials of the Ming Dynasty.
