医疗宣教与西医本土化--以保宁仁济医院为个案的口述史考察

Medical Missionary and the Localization of the Western Medicine in China: An Oral History Study on Paoning Renji Hospital

基督教差会为打开中国传教的局面,诉诸于医疗宣教的策略,西医在帮助传教士传播基督教义的同时,客观上也为西医在中华生根发展创造了条件。西医作为一种现代技术,从全由西方人垄断到渐为中国人所掌握,既是教会传教的现实需要,亦包含了中国人主动寻求的结果。本文通过田野调查所获口述史料,分析中国人学习西医、掌握西医的契机和途径,学术重建这一复杂历史过程的诸多细节。

The Christian missionary resorted to the strategy of medical missionary to evangelize Chinese. The west- ern medicine emerged accompanied by the spreading of the gospel in China. As a modern technology, the Western medicine was monopolized by the westerners and gradually mastered by Chinese. It was not only the practical need of missionary work, but also the result of Chinese active pursuit. This paper takes advantage of oral historical data obtained through field work to discusses the opportunities and ways for Chinese to learn and master the western medicine and tries to academically reconstruct the details of the complex historical process.
