The Laboratory Archaeology of the Crown of Empress Xiao of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty Unearthed from Caozhuang M2 in Yangzhou City,Jiangsu

一、基本情况2012年12月至2013年11月，由南京博物院、扬州市文物考古研究所和苏州市考古研究所组成的“扬州曹庄隋唐墓葬联合考古队”，在扬州市西湖镇司徒村曹庄发掘了两座古代砖室墓，编号为2013YCM1、2013YCM2（下文简称M1、M2）。

The crown of Empress Xiao of Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty is the highest-ranking and best-preserved ceremonial crown of the Sui and Tang Dynasties found to date. The laboratory archaeological restoration based on the scientific detection and analyses recovered the general structure and parts and components of Empress Xiao＇ s crown, which not only attested the relevant records in historical textual materials but also supplemented many technical details to them, and provided references for the studies on the femme titrre-honodng system and history of science and technology of the Sui and Tang Dynasties.
