Interpreting is a timely communicative activity,and its timeliness sets a high demand on the interpreter's abilities,and even a higher demand on his short-term memory. The interpreter was not born with an excellent short-term memory,which,actually,can be acquired through scientific training and exercise. This article,which starts with relevant terms and characteristics of short-term memory,presents a relatively detailed list of how to train students' short-term memory in class,with the aim of improving the quality and effectiveness of interpreting teaching and laying a good foundation for students' would-be interpreting practice.
