Understanding the Basis and Significance of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era-Reflections upon the Studying of the Report of the Nineteenth CPC National Congress

十九大报告作出了中国特色社会主义进入了新时代、我国社会主要矛盾已经转化为人民日益增长的美好生活需要和不平衡不充分的发展之间的矛盾等重大政治论断,阐述了新时代中国共产党的历史使命,确立了习近平新时代中国特色社会主义思想的历史地位。本文从国内主要矛盾和发展阶段的变化、我国国际地位的变化、党的指导理论的新成果、党和国家奋斗目标的新布局等四个方面,论述了中国特色社会主义进入新时代的基本依据和重要意义,并对习近平中国特色社会主义思想的鲜明特色作了深刻阐述。

The report of the 19 th CPC national congress includes some important political statements. For example,socialism with Chinese characteristics has entered a new era,and the principal contradiction has shifted to the one between unbalanced and inadequate development and the people's ever-growing needs for a better life.It explicates CPC's historical mission in the new era,and affirms the historical position of Xi Jinping 's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era. This paper discusses the fundamental basis and important significance of socialism with Chinese characteristics entering a new era from the following four aspects: changes in the principal contradiction and its development stages,different role of China in the world,new achievements in the Party's guiding theory,and the new layout for the goal of the Party and the country. There is also an in depth analysis of distinctive characteristics of Xi Jinping's thought on socialism with Chinese characteristics.
