The Lonely, Londoners written by Sam Selvon, a black Trinidad English writer, depicts the difficult survival of immigrants in London from the West Indies to Great Britain in the 1950s. The contemporary space theory provides a useful starting point for an analysis of the fiction. This paper examines the signifier and deep implication of London urban space in such aspects as urban structure and urban experiences. The conno- tation of London urban space is beyond the geographical boundaries of architecture, and plays important roles in the construction of everyday experiences and the expression of social and cultural issues as well as the internal operation of power system.
