The Stigmatization of People with Mental Illness as a Stressor Towards People Suffering from Mental Illness in China

在中国对心理疾病患者的污名化现象很普遍,许多罹患心理疾病的人常常被认为是懦弱、危险、可耻,甚至富有攻击性的。这种污名化日益加深了广大群众对心理疾病患者的歧视,同时拉大了需要帮助的病患和其他社会群体之间的距离。随着中国社会的极速发展,学习工作环境压力的逐渐增大,心理疾病患者的人数也随之急剧攀升。随之而来的是对病患污名化现象的进一步恶化。然而,中国文化底蕴深厚,思想博大精深,如能对其去粗取精,便能成为治疗与预防中国心理疾病的一剂良药。导致中国心理疾病患者污名化的社会因素众多。本文章关注的重点是在中国的文化背景下,家庭构成、宗教信仰等社会因素如何对心理疾病患者施加正面或负面的影响。

The stigmatization of people with mental illness is widespread in China.Many of those who suffer from mental disease are stigmatized as weak,dangerous,shameful and aggressive.This stigmatization reinforces the discrimination against those who are suffering from mental diseases,and this contributes to the increasing gap of the social distance between those in need and the rest of the society.With the increasing social competitive atmosphere in China,the number of people suffering from mental diseases is also skyrocketing.The stigma toward the mentally ill has been exacerbated.Though there are many social factors that contribute to the stigmatization of people with mental illness in China,this paper＇s objective is to focus on：How do the social factors：culture,family formations,religion and beliefs act as stressors or protective factors toward people suffering from mental illness in China.
