The Application of Information Blocks in Visual Sign System Design

阐述一个导视系统的设计理念,该设计旨在运用信息积木图形区分诺克斯维尔城市广场的六大功能区域。设计中运用字母和图形共同组成导视图形。用每个功能区域的英文首字母作为图形的外轮廓,从大的方面加以区分。根据各区域的特点做内部图形设计,通过对每部分特殊性的把握,归纳出最适合的元素,再做进一步变形和延展。将信息积木与导视系统设计相结合,能更好地表达与传递信息,实现导视系统的图形化和趣味性。

The design concept of a visual sign system has been discussed.The project aims to designate the six functional areas of the Knoxville City Square with information block graphics.Combinations of letters and graphics are applied in the visual sign design.The initial letters of each area are used as the outline of the sign to make it distinctive from the rest five.The internal design is based on the characteristics of the areas that are extracted into the most appropriate elements to make further transformation and expansion.Information blocks,when applied tothe visual sign system,can better express and convey information,and contribute to a graphical and interesting sign system.
