牛街,北京南城一条古老街道。它传递着京城近千年历史记忆,它浓缩着牛街人创造的多彩的市民文化,它是伊斯兰文明和汉文明融合为回族文化的典范。一个民族因共同的生态环境,共同的历史沉淀,共同的文化熏陶,共同的宗教信仰,共同的文化心理,必然形成了独特的民族性格。牛街回族以爱国爱教的统一,在北京市民中颇有口碑。多元文化兼容互动,所形成的文化生态倘非熟悉它,热爱它,有深厚的文化积累和深刻睿智的头脑,很难表述出牛街的"真实"。牛街文化普通却不寻常,走近她,别有洞天,大开眼界;深入她,别有情韵,知性升华。

Niujie, an old street in Beijing city, has inherited thousands of years of history of Beijing cityand concentrated the colorful Niujie culture which was created by Beijingers. It is an integration model ofMuslim civilization and the Chinese civilization. Its unique national character derives from such factors asecological environment of a common nation, a common history, a common cultural influence, a commonreligion and culture psychology. The Hui nationality with patriotism in Niujie has earned reputation aroundBeijing. The cultural ecology from compatible multicultural interaction is difficult for people unfamiliar with itand showing no love to it to express the “real”of Niujie. Niujie culture is common but unusual. People’ shorizon will be opened if they approach it. People’ s intellectual sublimation will be enhanced if they takeafurther research into it.
