Xi Shi Stories in Ancient Japanese Literature

在古代日本,由于《庄子》《淮南子》《吴越春秋》等汉籍的流布,西施故事也出现在一些日本文学作品中。中日文学中西施故事的演变脉络有相似性。中世军记物语《太平记》中的"西施与勾践相爱"这一独特的情节是受"中世史记"及《长恨歌》的影响而来。近世净琉璃剧本《吴越军谈》中的西施故事是在《太平记》的基础上改编而来。

In ancient Japan, due to the dissemination of Chinese classics such as Zhuang Zi Huai Nan Zi and Wu Yue Chun Qiu, the Xi Shi stories began to appear in Japanese Literature. There are similarities between the evolutions of Xi Shi stories in Chinese and Japanese Literature. The unique plot that Xi Shi and Go Jian loved each other originate from the Medieval historical records and Chang Hen Ge. Jyoruri script Goetsu Gundan which was written by Kino Kaion in early modern period is adapted from Taiheiki.
