The Qi-Xi poetry in the existing oldest collection of Japanese poetry The Manyoshu ( also known as Ten Thousand Leaves) records multiple landmarks in Japanese history. The poetry combines reality and fiction beautifully and vividly in a symphonic virtuosity by marrying the ancient myths from China and Japan, and dynamically reflecting them within a subjective perspective. The fairytale in Chinese literature is romantically and profoundly identified and developed by the picturesque depiction of the emotional tapestry of the local people in Wan Ye. The Qi-Xi poetry not only marks the glory of Japanese literature, but also latently demonstrates the down-to-earth pragmatism of ancient Japanese in their successful borrowing from the Chinese mainland culture.
