【歌剧内容】年迈的哲学家浮士德孤身一人,对生活感到失望.原本想以毒药了却残生,并且呼唤魔鬼的名字前来索命;但没想到魔鬼掩菲斯托费勒斯竟然应声出现.浮士德要求魔鬼给予他青春与爱情,并且答应以自己的灵魂作为愿望实现的报酬,两人达成契约.重回青年的浮士德心醉于村女玛格丽特,但却被她拒绝;魔鬼用一盒冰宝替浮士德诱惑少女的心,玛格丽特陷入迷情,并生下了浮士德的孩子.决心为妹妹复仇的华伦丁不幸倒在浮士德的剑下,受了刺激而发狂的玛格丽特失手杀死了自己与浮士德的孩子而入狱.浮士德潜入牢中企图帮她逃跑,玛格丽特拒绝并在祈求了上帝的宽恕之后死去,梅菲斯托费勒斯被天使用剑刺倒在地.
Faust is a grand opera in five acts by Charles Gounod to a French libretto by Jules Barbier and Michel Carré, based on Carré's play Faust et Marguerite, in turn loosely based on Johann Wolfgang von Goethe s Faust, Part One. The opera received its world premiere at the Thétre Lyrique on the Boulevard du Temple in Paris on March 19,1859.
