炎帝神农氏南迁湖湘考

Research on the Yandi Shennong Clan Moving South to Hunan

上古历史传说时期,南北皆有神农氏。约在炎黄时代,北方神农氏后裔炎帝部落一支,逐渐南迁至今湖北随州,与南方神农氏后裔融合成炎帝神农氏,亦称祝融氏。约在炎帝榆棢时(距今4600年左右),又南迁至今湖南南岳衡山一带,主政南方。其后裔分别迁居湘水中上游今洣水、耒水流域。其中一代杰出部落首领,仍袭号炎帝神农氏,去世后葬"茶乡之尾"——今炎陵县鹿原镇鹿原陂,为后裔世代奉祭,世称炎帝陵。

The Shennong Clan lived south and north during the ancient legend times. During the Yandi and Huangdi Period,the offspring of the Shennong Clan in the north,the branch of Yandi tribe,gradually moved south to the present Suizhou in Hubei province.It merged with its offspring in the south to form the Yandi Shennong Clan,also called Zhurong Clan. About 4600 years ago,during the Yandi Yuwang period,it further moved south to Nanyue Hengshan in Hunan province,mainly governing the south. Later on,its descendants transferred separately to the present Mi River and Lei River basins in the middle-upper reaches of the Xiang River. One outstanding tribe leader among them took over the Name Yandi Shennong. After he passed away,he was buried in the back part of the tea village—Luyuan Slope of Luyuan Town,Yanling County today. He is worshipped by his descendants generation after generation,thus this place is called Yandiling.
