Fully Understanding the Relationship between Theory and Practice

理论与实践之间的关系十分复杂。如果把这种复杂的关系简单化,就可能产生两种片面倾向:一种是片面强调理论的重要性、轻视实践经验的教条主义倾向;另一种是片面强调实践的重要性、忽视或不能全面理解理论对实践的指导作用和能动作用的"唯实践论"倾向。实践检验理论,理论也检验实践,人的"全部实践"才是检验真理的标准,不能把理论联系实际的原则简单化庸俗化。

Oversimplification of the complicated relationship between theory and practice may lead to two biased inclinations： one is the tendency to dogmatism , stressing too much on theory while ignoring practical experience; the other is the tendency to ＂practice -only＂, stressing too much on practice while neglecting or failing to get in perspective the guiding and initiative role theory can play. Practice tests theory, and vice verse. The whole practice of human beings is the sole criterion for testing truth. Therefore, it is improper to oversimplify or vulgarize the principle of integrating theory with practice.
