An Analysis of Zhu Xieyuan and the Counter—insurgency of Clan She & An

明朝天启元年,四川永宁土司奢氏与贵州水西土司安氏相应叛乱,一直延续到崇祯年间才被平定,对这场叛乱的平定宣告了四川永宁土司的终结。叛乱被平定之后朱燮元对贵州和四川采取一系列的善后措施,对四川及贵州的发展产生了很大的影响。朱燮元在这场叛乱中扮演着举足轻重的角色,故这场叛乱的平定离不开其作战指挥以及军事才能,对此,正史也给予他极高的评价。

Rebellions were raised successively by Clan She of Yongning Chieftain in Sichuan Province and Clan An of Shuixi Chieftain in Guizhou Province in the first year of Tianqi of the Ming Dynasty( 1621), and were not put down until the reign of Chongzhen( 1627-1644), signifying the closure of Yongning Chieftain.After pacification, Zhu Xieyuan took series of actions to deal with the aftermath, which exerted huge impact on the later development of these two provinces. History has spoken highly of Zhu, a man who by the virtue of his operational command capability and military prowess, played a critical role in the counter-insurgency.
