On the Legendary Life of Zhong Shu and His Unique Style of Ci-poetry

北宋词人仲殊由于因缘际会,剃发为僧。他遍游南方各大城市,结交苏轼等名士文人,创作了大量歌咏自然风光、都市风情的词作;也通过不少言情题材的书写,表现其传奇人生中难以释怀的缠绵情思,彰显出风流情僧的精神世界。他的词有别于一般诗僧创作的寒俭、僻仄,而是更多世俗化的生活场景、活泼明丽的亮色、生动流利的个性风格,具有别开生面的艺术魅力。

Due to special circumstances befalling him,Zhong Shu,a famous Ci-poet in the Northern Song Dynasty,became a monk. Zhong Shu had since then embarked on a traveling journey to major cities in southern China,socializing with literati like Su Shi and engaging himself in Ci-poetry creations. His Ci-poems portray both rual and uban sceneries as well as give vent to his own unforgettable life experiences and lingering emotions. Many of his works highlight the romantic dimensions of a monk's spiritual world. Compared with other monk-turned poets,his works are more secularly oriented,brightly colored,and naturally styled,emating unique artistic charm.
