In the theory of authority, Engels criticizes the wrong judgment of anarchism against all authoritative viewpoints, and expounds the nature, necessity and importance of authority as well as the relation between authority and freedom. Engels used the method of historical materialism to demonstrate the necessity of authority in economic and political aspects, and expounded the important role of authority in social life.
