Problems and Strategies in the Translation of Dunhuang Culture Terms: Study Based on the Background of the Belt and Road Initiative

在"一带一路"倡议的积极影响下,敦煌文化翻译与对外宣传的需求与日俱增。近年来,虽有译者进行过敦煌文化翻译,却鲜有学者对其进行系统研究。在缺乏学术理论支撑及行业规范指导的背景下,敦煌文化翻译面临诸多问题。其中,最亟须解决的问题莫过于术语翻译问题。敦煌文化博大精深,其术语具有一定的独特性和复杂性,也为此类术语翻译带来了相当大的难度。有鉴于此,文章将重点研究内容定位在敦煌文化术语翻译,总结其术语特点,指出并分析现有问题。同时,提出适用的翻译对策。希望能为敦煌文化全面对外传播前打下一定基础,促进敦煌学的国际研究并推动中国文化术语的外宣翻译。

With the positive influence of the Belt and Road Initiative, there is an increasing need for the translation and internationalpublicity of Dunhuang culture. In recent years, some translators have translated books on Dunhuang culture, whereas few scholarshave conduct researches on its translation. As a result, without the support of translation theories and the guidance of the translationcriteria, the translation of the Dunhuang culture is faced with various problems, in which the most urgent one to be tackled is the termtranslation. Since the Dunhuang culture is so extensive and profound that its terms feature great uniqueness and complexity, whichserves as the difficult points in Dunhuang term translation. In light of this, the article focuses on the translation of Dunhuang cultureterms, summarizes their features, and points out and analyzes the existing problems. The article also explores proper countermeasures. We hoped this article could lay certain foundation to the spread of the Dunhuang culture, promote the internationalresearch on the Dunhuang Studies and enhance the translation of terms on Chinese culture.
