20世纪20年代澳大利亚姑娘金指真来到桂林,从事医疗服务28年。期间她历经地方军阀混战,遭遇土匪袭击,经受日军炮火洗劫,亲历广西民国社会的兴衰与变迁。金指真在桂林的生活,以及她对民国广西社会的认识,为我们研究近代广西地方史提供了丰富的素材和资料。
Australian girl Rhoda Watkins came to Guilin in 1920 s and had been employed in medical service for 28 years. During the period, she went through the local warlords, ran up against bandits attack, experienced Japanese invasion and witnessed the rise and fall and change of the society of modern Guangxi. Rhoda Watkins＇ life in Guilin and her understanding of the society of Guangxi provide us with rich materials for the study of modern Guangxi.
