摘要
石黑一雄的文学价值主要体现于其笔墨间难以捉摸的隐性深度。与其他西方作家以语言的隐喻性制造隐性深度不同,石黑文本的深度得益于他从日本电影中借鉴的物哀与留白技法,这使他完成了一个协调现实主义情感与现代主义客观与自由的任务,在从原意上最大地还原了读者阐释自由的同时,又维持了强烈情感、秩序和意义。
Noted for the technique of using gaps and spaces in fiction to create very powerful vacuum,Kazuo Ishiguro is one of the few writers who dare to say so little of what they mean. His technique of ellipses resonate with the ellipses of Mono no aware in Yasujiro Ozu's films. In Never Let Me Go,Ishiguro's singular presentation of this ellipse of Mono no aware creates a tone in harmony with the modernist characteristics. In effect,gaps of emotion and meaning are left to be filled voluntarily with readers' imaginations,which contributes to the unfathomable depth in Ishiguro's art.
