Noted for the technique of using gaps and spaces in fiction to create very powerful vacuum,Kazuo Ishiguro is one of the few writers who dare to say so little of what they mean. His technique of ellipses resonate with the ellipses of Mono no aware in Yasujiro Ozu's films. In Never Let Me Go,Ishiguro's singular presentation of this ellipse of Mono no aware creates a tone in harmony with the modernist characteristics.
