The G criterion formerly used for self terminating transition in pulsed discharge excited metal vapor laser is successfully extended from neutral atomic laser media to single ionic laser media. Throuch examination of the well known 17 self terminating transition laser lines of single metallic ions,we find all but one of these ionic lines are in accord with G criterion and a reasonable explanation is given.It is found that only 69 single ionic lines meeting the G criterion are worth further investigation through choosing the predicted 212 single ionic laser lines according to the G criterion.
