Based on the analysis of the street design guidelines of US cities in recent years, the article analyzes the human-oriented design contents from three perspectives: street classification, spatial form and design elements. It points out the focus of street design in US is moving from traffic mobility to walkability and livability, fully incorporating design concepts of prioritizing pedestrians, emphasizing on the public nature, safety, comfort, accessibility and the balance of the street. As a result, the design guidelines help to improve the overall quality of the environment, enabling the street to be an essential factor in reactivating the public realm of the city.
