从近现代教会大学的办学特色看湖北外语教育的发展——以华中大学为例

Study on the Development of Hubei Foreign Language Education from the Perspectives of Experience and School-running Feature in Modern Missionary Universities——Take Hua Chung College for Example

近代教会大学是我国教育半封建半殖民地化的特殊产物,开辟了中国现代外语高等教育的先河。华中大学作为近现代华中地区首屈一指的教会大学,大胆吸收西方先进的教育思想,在课程设置、师资培养、双语教学、教育方法创新等诸多方面,取得了丰硕的成果,积累了宝贵的经验。如今,我们重新审视华中大学的办学特色和外语教学经验,借以指导当前我省外语教育实践和外语教育改革,推动我省外语教育又好又快发展具有十分重要的现实意义。

Modern missionary universities are the products of Chinese semi-feudal and semi-colonial education,and considered as the precursors of contemporary foreign language higher education. As the most important missionary university in central China,Hua Chung College absorbed and used the advanced educational ideas and experience in western countries,and made great achievements in many respects,such as curriculum structure,teacher training,bilingual education,innovation of education methods,and so on. Hua Chung College accumulated a lot of invaluable experience for the development of contemporary foreign language higher education. Nowadays,we review the foreign language teaching experience and school-running feature in Hua Chung College in order to guide the current practice and reform of foreign language education in Hubei Province,which is of practical significance for promoting sound and rapid development of foreign language education in Hubei Province.
