压缩策略在高难度语篇汉英同传中的运用——以中医学术会议发言为例

The Application of Compression Strategy in Chinese-English Simultaneous Interpreting of Highly Difficult Speeches——With Speeches from TCM Academic Conferences as an Example

同声传译有难易之分。中医学术会议发言具有专业性强、涉及学科广、发言语速快的特征,对于同声传译来说,是典型的高难度语篇。此类语篇的汉英同传中,译员必须使用压缩策略来缩减译语、省时省力。压缩策略具体可通过简化、省略、概括三种方式达成。

In simultaneous interpreting, certain speeches are more difficult than others. Speeches at TCM academic conferences are highly technical, cover a wide range of subjects and are often delivered at a fast pace. For SI, they qualify as examples of highly difficult speeches. In Chinese-English SI, interpreters must use compression strategy to simplify the target speech and save time and effort. Applications of the compression strategy include simplification, omission and generalization.
