现实总是不够浪漫——《四十个房间》主人公考德威尔夫人形象分析及其他

摘要 俄裔美国作家奥尔加·格鲁申的长篇小说《四十个房间》是近年美国文学的成功之作。这部作品为我们建造了一座人生的迷宫,在作者的笔下,现实中的风景无不可以充满人生的寓意,成为某种难以言喻的象征。作者通过浪漫与现实的相互映照,生动地叙述了考德威尔夫人的故事,塑造了这一独特的人物形象,并因此而深入地诠释了人生,尤其是占世界之半的女性的人生,令人动容,发人深省。考德威尔夫人这一形象可以是任何一个女人,任何一个曾经受父母宠爱、后来为丈夫付出、最终为家庭奉献一切的女人,意味着这几乎是所有女人的宿命,从天上落到尘世,从天使变成凡人。作品有着新奇浪漫的格调,背后却是无以言表的悲凉,深刻地映照出"现实总是不够浪漫"。 Russian-American novelist Olga Grushin’s novel Forty Rooms is one of the most successful work in American literature recently.This book has built a labyrinth of life,where everything in reality can become symbols filled with significant meanings.By comparing romance and reality,Grushin vividly illustrates the story of Mrs.Caldwell,the image of whom is unique and special,thus deeply interpreting women’s life.Mrs.Caldwell can be any woman who used to be loved by her parents,and later dedicated everything to her husband and family.It is almost the fate of all the women that they are destined to fall from heaven to earth,and change from angel to mortal.Under the fantastic and romantic expression,this work delivers unspeakable sadness,thus profoundly reflecting that"Truth can’t be very romantic."
