Liu Zong-yuan, was one of the most famous prose writers in the Tang Dynasty ; He advocated ＂classical＂ writing, created the new classical system, then did a series of literary innovation in his essays. Furthermore, he put forward a series of rhetorical ideas and created his essays with them to add artistry. The paper uses Liu Zong-yuan＇s essays as the entry point to study the rhetorical skills used in them.
