摘要
语义缺省会导致语篇从表面上看起来不连贯,但人们仍然能将表面上不连贯的语篇理解为是连贯的,这是由于人们的心智连贯性在起作用。心智连贯性是人类的拓扑认知能力的表现,我们的认知能力是有限的,拓扑性使我们认识这个世界成为可能。从认知拓扑观的视角来看,心智连贯性体现为人类认知拓扑结构的连通性。通过认识物理空间的拓扑连通性和认知空间的拓扑连通性,来理解语言空间的拓扑连通性,从而回答"表面上不连贯的语义缺省的语篇为什么能被理解为连贯的语篇"这一问题,揭示语义缺省的认知理据——拓扑连通性。
A discourse lacks coherence due to semantic defaults. However,human beings can still interprete it as a coherent discourse because mental coherence plays a role in our construal process. The mental coherence represents our topological cognition ability which is basic for us because topological properties help us to overcome the limit of our cognition ability and make it possible to understand this world. From the perspective of topogical cognition,mental coherence is related to the connectivity of topological cognitive structure. The analysis of the topological connectivity in physical spaces and cognitive spaces can help us to understand the topological connectivity in language spaces and answer the question of"why an incoherent discourse due to semantic defaults can be interpreted as a coherent discourse"; therefore,topological connectivity provides a cognitive motivation for semantic defaults.
