From the perspective of cultural communication, this article discusses the generation and development of the classical literature in Cambodia, Myanmar, Thai and Lao, which belong to the Theravada Buddhism culture circle in Southeast Asia. The introduction of Indian culture gave birth to the early classical literature of these four countries. Throughout the feudal society in the combination with monarchial and religious power, the classical literature of these four countries was mainly composed of religious literature and royal literature. In addition, there had also been secular literature, which was close to the people's lives and reflected the sufferings of the people. In the middle of the 19th century, the classical literature of these four countries began to transform into modem literature.
