Self-orientation was one of the most prominent ideas of Wang Gen who was the founder of the Taizhou academic school. Wang Gen himself had also made a multi-level interpretation of the thought. From the view of human nature,humanity is the natural justicestressing the noumenon position of human beings. From the relationship between people and country,self-cultivation and self-settlement are unified and the premise of stability to the country. From the active subject undertakers,the human body is the natural subject as well as the subject of freedom,the position of individuals should be stressed and the subject initiative should be given a full play.
