《世说新语》与《幽明录》中的佛教对读

To Read the Buddhism between Shi shuo xin yu and You ming lu

南朝宋临川王刘义庆所编的《世说新语》和《幽明录》是六朝笔记文学的杰出代表。将两部作品进行对读,不难发现,其有关佛教的描述大异其趣。前者较为理性,既有对佛教的尊重,又有对宗教迷信荒谬之处的揭露;后者多记鬼神物魅之事,崇佛观念颇浓,近"释氏辅教之书"。作品中对佛教态度的这种差异,不仅可以印证晋宋之际佛教由依附玄理到独立门户的嬗变,更反映了早期佛教与文学的互渗特点。

Shi shuo xin yu and You ming lu are both the representative works of Liu Yiqing who was the king of Linchuan in the southern dynasty.Based on the reading,it's easy to find that the description about Buddhism in them differs widely.The former is quite rational,for it is not only expressed writer's respect to Buddhism,but also reveals religious superstition.The later,on the contrary,fully believes in Buddhism so that it records plenty of stories about supernatural beings.On the one hand,the difference can verify the transformation from adherence to independence about Buddhism.On the other hand,it reflects the interpenetrate trait between Buddhism and literature.
