清代笔记中关于老神仙陈士庆的记载很多,追根溯源,其材料大都出自方孝标兄弟的文章。王解子夫妇的事迹屡见于清初诗文中,民间故事中亦有,只是所述稍有不同。海烈妇事迹是康熙年间文学创作的一个热点,其背后隐藏着人们对清王朝统治的不满。

There are many stories about the Old Immortal Chen Shiqing, and the source of them is the proses written by Fang Xiaobiao and his younger brother. The stories about Yamen Runner Wang and his wife exist in some proses and poems written in the early Qing Dynasty, and in the folktales. However, there are different versions of the stories. The stories about Chaste Lady Hai constituted a hot literary spot in the period of Kangxi, and the writers wrote the stories to express their resentment to the government.
