Great Change from Stage to Screen——On the Adaptation of Film The Beauty

著名戏剧家田汉的剧作《丽人行》以三条线索分头讲述了女工刘金妹的遭遇,革命女性李新群在逆境中的奋进和摩登女性梁若英的动摇与醒悟。该作在1949年被改编成同名电影。导演陈鲤庭以丰富的话剧创作经验,握住了原剧中的戏剧性因素,又做了许多电影化的处理,如多镜头的运用、生活细节的表现等,使该片的电影性和戏剧性水乳交融,浑然一体。在人物塑造将扁平人物圆形化,在结构上实现了单一结构复杂化。

The Beauty written by famous dramatist Tian Han tells a story about three women,namely worker Liu Jinmei,revolutionary woman Li Xinqun and modern woman Liang Ruoying.It was adapted into a film in 1949. And the director Chen Liting does a lot of work in his film adaptation,such as using multiple lenses and revealing the details of life,so the film appears both cinematic and dramatic. And the characterization is vivid and the structure is complicated.
