Analysis on FAN Wenfu's Experience of Warming through Therapy in Treating Thoracic Obstruction

清末民初著名医家范文甫学宗经典,师崇仲景,善用经方,临床崇尚实践,治病谨守病机,理论与治验结合,济世救人,蜚声杏林。观其论治胸痹,明辨病机,辨证简明,立温通法,标本兼治而主次分明。治方或融合经方成"栝楼薤白方",或遵循经方原方,或略作加减,有的放矢,施治巧妙,临床效果显著。

In the late Qing and early Republic of China, FAN Wenfu, a distinguished physician,learned medical classics and inherited medical skills of ZHANG Zhongjing. In addition, he always applied classical prescriptions and attached much importance to clinical practice. While treating diseases, he conserved pathogenesis and combined medical theories with treatment experience. Owing to his great contribution to healing the wounded and rescuing the dying, FAN Wenfu had gained high reputation in the med- ical world. In view of his experience of treating thoracic obstruction, he distinguished pathogenesis definitely and had concise syn- drome differentiation ,which helped him establish warm removing obstruction method that could address both the symptoms and root causes. Through combining, following or slightly reducing classical prescriptions, he made Gualou Xiebai Decoction and had a definite object and treated ingeniously, so he contributed a lot to the clinical treatment of thoracic obstruction.
