Psychosomatic disorders are diseases mainly manifested by physical symptoms with close relation to psychosocial factor, being part of emotional diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. Professor XU Zhiwei treats psychosomatic disorders effec- tively. He abides by the following four principles during diagnosing and treating the diseases ： seeking the origin and treating based on different cases, treating the outside appearance for acute disease and the origin for chronic disease, attaching great importance to psychotherapy, and encouraging patients to adhere to their treatment. One proved case is introduced at the end of this article in order to reflect ideas and features of professor XU when diagnosing and treating the diseases.
