留学生英语学习动机个案研究及启示

A Case Study on Foreign Students' Learning Motivation and Its Implications

摘要 文章采用质性研究方法,对两名在中国的哈萨克斯坦留学生的英语学习动机进行个案研究。研究发现,留学生的英语学习动机表现为内在兴趣动机、社会责任动机、成绩动机、出国动机、个人发展动机和信息媒介动机、融合型动机和情景动机这八种类型且无动态性变化;除了在情景动机方面表现出较大的差异性以外,两名学生在其他七种学习动机方面表现基本一致,但其内在兴趣动机和融合型动机的产生原因略有不同;在融合型动机方面,具有有别于其他英语学习者的特点。结合研究结果,对改进对外教学提出相应的建议。 The research, with a qualitative research method, focuses on a case study on English learning motivation of two overseas students from Kazakhstan in China. According to the research, eight types of learning motivations which have no dynamic change in o- verseas students' English learning are found : intrinsic interest, social responsibility, immediate achievement, going aboard, individual development, information medium, integrative motivation and learning situation motivation. Among those motivations, two students share a lot in common in other seven learning motivation but they behave differently in situation motivation from other English learners. However, the reasons for their intrinsic interest motivation and integration motivation are slightly different. In the aspect of integration motivation, it is different from other English learners. According to the results of the study, some suggestions are put forward to im- prove the teaching of foreign studying.
