摘要
《上海的狐步舞(一个断片)》通常被认为是穆时英小说技巧的集大成之作。其小说中的错格现象是这篇小说精致结构中的一个瑕疵,而它又是由于穆时英本人向小说人物投射过于强烈的情感造成的。小说中潜隐着"误认"这一主题,穆时英对"误认"主题的书写,成功地捕捉到一种典型的都市现代性体验。然而每当穆时英书写这一现代性体验时,其写作都会表现出某种游移与慌乱的特质,这使得其作品无法称得上真正意义的现代主义写作。
Shanghai Fox Trot (A Segment) is generally regarded as a masterpiece displaying Mu Shiying' s novelistic skills. The anacoluthon, formed because Mu pours too strong feelings into the characters, is a shortcoming of this novel with delicate structure. "Misrecognition" is a hidden theme in the novel. Though Mu' s writing of this theme successfully captures typical modern metropolitan experience, Mu' s depicting of this kind of experience is unstable and restless, and for this reason the novel cannot be listed among the real modernist writings.
