Middle Income Group: Growth and Composition

参照世界银行的中等收入群体标准,提出适用于目前中国社会经济发展状况的中等收入群体的划分标准,并采用2001—2015年的几次全国抽样调查数据,分析中国中等收入群体的壮大过程及其构成变化,预测"十三五"期间中等收入群体的发展趋势,提出促进中等收入群体发展壮大的对策建议。针对中等收入群体的结构形态和构成特征,文章认为:壮大中等收入群体不仅需要"扩中"还需要"调结构",在提升中等收入者比例的同时,还要促进中等收入群体由目前的倒丁字型向金字塔型演变,并进一步形成最理想的纺锤型社会结构。

This paper refers to the middle income standard proposed by economists from the World Bankand develops a method to define Chinese middle income group. Based on the national sample surveys,the author analyses the growth trend and composition change of Chinese middle income group. The paperconcludes that the government should make policies to not only enlarge the size of the middle incomegroup but also optimize its composition, and then transferring the pyramid-shape social structure into theolive-shape social structure.
