Analysis on the Creative Performance of the Meizhou Island Giant Matsu Statue

妈祖崇拜是中华传统文化语系内重要的组成部分。妈祖信仰的起源地湄洲岛的巨型妈祖石雕像是妈祖文化的一个新"地标"。其异于传统的新形象,也传达出妈祖文化所衍生的由迷信崇拜到文化遗产的象征意义转移。湄洲岛巨型妈祖雕像的创新性体现在雕像外造型的现代化塑造与新时代文化表征的彰显。

Worship of Mazu is an important part of Chinese traditional culture and language. The giant Mazu stone statue of Meizhou Island, the birthplace of Mazu belief, is a new"landmark"of Mazu culture. It is different from the traditional new image, but also conveys the symbolic transfer from the cult culture derived from superstition to cultural heritage. This paper analyzes the innovative manifestation of the traditional Mazu statues in Mazu Statue in Meizhou Island through the study of the shape of Mazu.
