全球化语境下文学经典翻译传播的伦理探索——以《西游记》翻译为例

Ethical Examination of the Translational Communication of Chinese Literary Classics in the Context of Globalization:A Case Study of the Translation of Journey to the West

全球化语境下,崛起的中国迫切需要以文化交流为切入点让世界了解真实的中国,从而消除对"中国威胁论"的误解。文学经典作为中华文化的精髓自然成为提升中国国际形象的一个重要途径。然而文学经典的翻译却遭遇到在英语世界传播不力的尴尬。以海外接受程度最高的《西游记》翻译为例,分析认为在全球化语境下文学经典翻译必须遵循"平等对话""求同存异"的伦理规范才能真正实现文化的有效传播与互动。

In the context of globalization, the rising China is in desperate need of a full understanding by the global- ized world through cultural exchanges so as to dismiss the rumor of ＂China＇s Threat＂. China＇s cultural treasure is largely displayed in a wealth of literary classics which can be a major approach to raising China＇s international image. However, Chinese classics have been poorly received by the English audience. In a case study of the translation of Journey to the West one of the masterpieces best known to westerners, this article offers its supposition that effective cultural exchanges through literary classics should comply with the ethic norms of ＂equal dialogues＂ and ＂respecting sameness but keeping differences＂ in the context of globalization.
