In the fintech era, financial institutions are no longer limited by time and space as they provide services to customers by making use of electronic as well as branch networks. They are better able to serve a greater number of customers, effectively expanding market boundaries. The financial institutions with a first mover advantage can enter new market segments and effectively meet customer demand. Fmancia institutions will therefore find it difficult to gain market share through the low-cost method of imitating existing technology. That will mean the advantage of market laggards will disappear, and financial institutions need to embrace new business development strategies in the fintech era.
