Lactoferrin, LF is one crucial nonheme iron binding glycoprotein in milk. There is mono glycoprotein of bactericidal activity in neutrophile granulocyte. It distributed widely in milk of mammals, other tissues and their secretions, mainly due to expression and secretion by mammary epithelial cells. Lactoferrin extracted in milk belongs to food protein that processes a set of innate immune system. Not only does it have the functions of binding and transport of iron ions and keep the balance of iron in the body, it has activities of wide antimicrobial spectrum, resistance to virus infection, inhibition of human tumor cells, modulation of immune, regulation of bone marrow cells.
