Ecology of Sound: Sonic Order of Urban Space

我们在考虑城市的结构的时候,声音往往被忽略。音乐、声音和噪音所拥有的指代特定区域、分割空间的效力,促成了音响生态学(The sonic ecology)的生成。城市空间中的声音生态,既具备空间性也具备时间性的特征,这些特征具备社会影响效能。本文试图去"锚定"城市秩序里面所看不见的声音部分,并且对其在空间和时间上的构成予以理论性阐述。都市的声音景观由变动不居的"声音地形"(aural terrain)构成,为我们的城市生活经验带来区隔和微妙的导向作用。

Sound is often neglected as a urban fabric. Music, sound and noise in urban areas lead to the concept of sonic ecology. The sonic ecology with relatively persistent and chronologically ordered quality in urban areas functions as a social factor. This paper attempts to map out the unnoticed sound in the city and to theorizes its spatial and temporal patterning. The sound in urban areas is featured by the shifting aural terrain, a resonant metropolitan fabric, which may exclude or subtly guide us in our experience of the city, thus highlighting an invisible yet highly affecting and socially relevant area of urban enquiry.
