摘要
南海问题自2010年以来不断发酵,特别是2016年的"南海仲裁案"使得这一议题一度成为国际热点。通过对《纽约时报》南海议题报道的分析发现,《纽约时报》在报道中通过策略性叙事的手段将中国的形象分别描绘成为"利益捍卫者""扩张主义者""国际秩序破坏者"等,使中国形象伴随着议题的演进而逐渐负面化。可见,《纽约时报》在报道中利用议题框架的设计和话语修辞方式,逐渐搭建起一套关于南海问题的完整"情节"与"故事",并影响国际舆论的认知。
The South China Sea dispute constantly escalated since 2010, and it became hot topic in 2016 when South China Sea arbitration came to final verdict. The coverage of New York Times, using specific agenda framing and rhetoric strategy, constructed the international public opinion of this issue. This paper uses strate- gic narratives as a framework, analyzing the coverage of New York Times. The result shows that New York Times depicts China as an "interest protector" "expansionist" and "international order% destroyer", thus it makes the image of China become negative during the process of dispute. It is clear that since 2010 the coverage of New York Times has gradually constructed a whole "story" and "plot" of South China Sea dispute, and has influenced the public opinion in this way.
