Since the industrial revolution, movie industry has developed huge progress in the digital age. Movies from China and America have increasing impact in today’s society. When they’re leading the movie industry,we shouldn’t overlook their own progress. This paper compares the contemporary movies of China and America, analyzes the common features and differences between them, and discusses their core values. Then take further insights of the Hollywood element which now shown in contemporary Chinese movies through these comparisons and analysis. Taking an example of comparison between The Avengers5 directed by Joss Whedon and The Flowers of War5 directed by Zhang Yimou to elaborate the common feature and differences between contemporary Chinese movie and contemporary American movie.
