Interpretation of the Spatial Metaphor in The Rainbow from the Perspective of Feminist Geography

劳伦斯在小说《虹》中通过叙述三代女主人公的生活变迁史,对两性如何和谐相处的问题进行了探索,进而探求血肉表层下的生命的真实性。本文从女性地理学的视角,将小说中的地理空间、叙事空间与性别空间相结合,解读《虹》中女主人公的生活变迁过程中暗含的空间隐喻,这有助于从多角度探析彩虹的象征意义。

In his masterpiece The Rainbow, Lawrence presents the vicissitudes of three generations of women characters, through which he tries to explore ways of reconciling relationship between men and women and go further to seek the truth of humanity that is hidden beneath the surface of blood and flesh. Exploring the clues hidden among geographical space, narrative space and gender space, this paper attempts to interpret the spatial metaphor in the vicissitudes of the women characters from the perspective of feminist geography, which helps to probe into the symbol of the rainbow from various aspects.
