As a part of long-term developing traditional culture in Chinese history, Chinese traditional Wushu is simply a kind of bloody grapple at first. However, the grapple itself comes out for the purpose of peace, which logically implies the need of integration with Chinese traditional culture when it begins to emerge. The whole Chinese traditional culture makes a difference for the development of Chinese traditional Wushu more or less, of which Taoism takes the lead. The word "Taoism" is re-proposed by the scholar named Hu Fuchen and then becomes the governing concept of Taoist school and Dan Taoism. In some degree, it is Taoism that takes martial arts from barbarism to civilization. The following article mainly explains the relationship between Taoism and martial arts according to some literatures, unearthed materials as well as personal martial art practice experience.
